How can two people see the same thing and come up with opposite conclusions? It might help to think of the drawing in which an old hag or a young woman can be seen. Usually a person can switch their vision back and forth, but what if a person says that is an old hag and that’s that!
There are at least four positions here. (1) Old hag, (2) Young woman, (3) Both old hag and young woman, (4) A drawing with connected lines.
Both (1) and (2) can be seen as political positions with ardent supporters who will scream at each other until they die (or we do). (3) can be seen as an attempt to calm the waters and bring reason into play. Good luck on that! (4) says it is a cosmic phenomenon which is interpreted according to the needs and capability of the viewer. Of course, very few will be willing to hear that, much less abide by it.
Is there any way out of this? Perhaps only within your own being. I’m partial to (4) with an added moral code: love your neighbor (all of life) as yourself and love your Creator with all your might. We are the Cosmos embodying. When we know that, truly know that, there is no division.
